\b0 Egyptians now call this city in the Qena province Dandarah, though archaeologists all re
fer to it as Dendera.\par
It is situated on the great bend in the Nile, right where the river heading north-east towards Luxor and Thebes then turns south-west, in the direction of Hiw.\par
The ancient name of Dendera was Inuet, which became Tentyra fo
r the Greeks.\par
Inuet was the capital of a "nome" of Upper Egypt, though there is nothing visible today of the ancient city.\par
The deity of the region was Hathor, the cow-goddess, or "Hat-hor", the "House of Horus".\par
